At the end of each season swimmers who improved their times the most, get a point cup.
How does this work, what are the rules?
- For every hundredth of a second you improve your time you get one point. So, for one second you get 100 points.
- For a 25 meters you get points for every second you improve (no limit)
- For a 50 meters you get a maximum of 500 points (so you can deserve points for 5 seconds)
- For a 100 meters or more you get a maximum of 600 points ( so you can deserve points for 6 seconds)
- Only your final time of a race counts so split times do not count.
- The time of the first swimmer in a relay counts for points
- And of course, the swimmers who gained at the end of the season the most point in his or her age group gets a cup for one year, something to keep for ever
- The swimmer who deserved the biggest amount of point also gets a super cup for one year, something to keep for ever and fame!
The age categories are base don the age groups which were used in 1973 in the Netherlands for competition swimming. In that year WZK started with the point cups. Because we still like to use these old cups, we use the cups for these age groups:
Younger than 10 = minioren 1,2,3,4
Younger than 12 = minioren 5 en 6
Younger than 14 = junioren 1 en 2
Younger than 16 = boys junioren 3 en 4 / girls jeugd 1 en 2
ladies / gentleman = boys jeugd 1 and older / ladies D1 and older
